Driver Seriously Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash

MFD was dispatched to the intersection of Reetz Road and Freeport Road for a motor vehicle crash. 

Ladder 7 noted a vehicle more than 30 feet off-road and down a hill in a wooded area. Ladder 7 continued down into the wooded area to investigate and found a single pickup truck on its side with its roof resting against a tree. MPD was already on scene and in contact with the driver through a window. 

Firefighters used a chainsaw to clear away the tree and other brush. Ladder Co. 7 and Engine Co. 7 deployed equipment to extricate the driver from the vehicle. This involved removing the windshield so paramedics could make an initial assessment of the injured driver as well as the sunroof. 

The driver was removed from the vehicle through the sunroof. Medic 7 transported the driver to the hospital with serious injuries. MPD remained on scene, and a tow truck was called to remove the pickup truck.
