Incident Summary: Highway 51 & Pflaum Road

Incident Summary

MFD was dispatched to the intersection of S. Stoughton Road & Pflaum Road after several 911 callers reported a vehicle crash involving multiple vehicles. 

Witnesses and involved parties say a red sedan went off the road, went airborne, rolled over, and came to a rest on its roof against two other vehicles. A total of five vehicles were impacted by the crash.

The red vehicle was smoking when Ladder Co. 14 arrived on scene. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. 

Two people inside the red vehicle were able to escape with help from bystanders. Paramedics transported the driver to the hospital with serious injuries, and the passenger was also transported with injuries that appeared to be non-life threatening. 

Two other impacted drivers were also evaluated by EMS. One reported minor injuries and was taken to the ER for further evaluation. The second was evaluated but did not want to be taken to the hospital.

As of 3:47 PM, all lanes are open at N. Stoughton Rd. and Pflaum Rd.; however, traffic lights at this intersection are currently not functioning. 

MFD has cleared, but MPD remains on scene.

Five people were assessed for injuries related to this crash. There were no fatalities reported.
