Mayor Appoints Rachel Strauch-Nelson Communications Director

Madison - Mayor Dave Cieslewicz announced today that Rachel Strauch-Nelson will serve as his new Communications Director, effective July 28. "I am very impressed with Rachel's skills, enthusiasm, creativity and commitment to Madison," Cieslewicz said. "She will be a strong addition to my team." "It's an honor to work for a Mayor who has continually championed thoughtful, progressive policies for this city," Strauch-Nelson said. "I'm eager to start working to forward his agenda to continue strengthening Madison." Most recently, Strauch-Nelson worked as the Communications Director for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. In 2006, she served as the Press Secretary for Fair Wisconsin, the campaign that fought against the civil unions and marriage ban. Prior to that, Strauch-Nelson also served in communications roles at Doyle for Wisconsin, Linda Clifford for Justice and the 2004 Democratic Coordinated Campaign. Strauch-Nelson is a Wisconsin native and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she received her degree in journalism and political science.
