Brush Collection Ending for 2021

posted

The Streets Division’s final brush collection opportunities for 2021 are happening now. Some neighborhoods have already received their final curbside collection opportunity for the year.

Learn when your final set-out date for brush collection by entering your address into the form at www.cityofmadison.com/brushcollection.

Residents who have brush and missed their final curbside pickup for the year should instead take the brush to a Streets Division drop-off site. Be sure you know the hours of the drop-off site before loading your vehicle or trailer. The hours are different than in prior years, and they will change again in the winter.

Once curbside pickup ends for 2021 for a neighborhood, there will not be another brush collection opportunity until the spring of 2022.

Why is brush collection ending?
Brush collection is coming to a close because yard waste collection season is starting soon.

Personnel assigned to brush collection shift to perform fall yard waste collection.

Therefore, brush collection needs to be finished so those crews can be available for yard waste collection.

Are brush and yard waste the same thing?
No.

Brush is woody material that is chipped into wood mulch. Yard waste, like leaves, is hauled to a local composter for processing.
