Celebrating National Park and Recreation Month in July

posted

Join Madison Parks and Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) for National Park and Recreation Month as we celebrate throughout July, how parks and recreation help create thriving communities. This year’s theme, “Build Together, Play Together, " reminds us of the contributions of more than 160,000 full-time park and recreation professionals — along with hundreds of thousands of part-time and seasonal workers and volunteers — who maintain our country’s close-to-home parks.

Launched in 1985 by the National Park and Recreation Association, each July, we honor and recognize the role parks and recreation play in building strong, vibrant, and resilient communities. Park and recreation programs are essential to a community’s health and well-being and help cultivate lifelong friendships, memories, and family bonds that people hold dear decades later.

Throughout July, Madison Parks and MSCR are offering free community events for all ages. Check out an event near you and help us “Build Together, Play Together.”
