Full Closure of South Broom Street Starting on April 23

posted

North Shore Drive will fully reopen by 5:00 pm on Wednesday, April 22.  The following morning, Thursday, April 23 at 5:00 am, South Broom Street will fully close between W Wilson Street and John Nolen Drive.  During this closure, a pedestrian walkway will always be maintained along Broom Street and across John Nolen Drive to the Capital City Trail.

This setup will remain until early June.  At that time, Broom Street will reopen and North Shore Drive will fully close until mid-July.

S Broom Street, between Wilson Street and John Nolen Drive, is closed to traffic 5am, April 23 until Early-June.

Next Steps

Following completion of work on Broom Street and North Shore Drive in mid-July, traffic on John Nolen Drive will shift to the newly constructed southbound lanes on the causeway. Two-way traffic will operate on this side while reconstruction begins on the existing northbound lanes. During this time, the Capital City Trail will be detoured around Monona Bay. This traffic configuration is expected to remain in place until mid-summer 2027.

These dates reflect the current construction schedule and are subject to change. Additional updates will be provided prior to each closure to confirm timing.
