The City of Madison Clerk's Office has begun mailing absentee ballots for the August 11, 2026 election. If you plan to vote by mail, you can request your ballot through the MyVote WI website.
How to Request a Ballot
Visit the MyVote WI website and follow the prompts to request your absentee ballot. If the Clerk's Office does not have your voter ID on file, the site will ask you to upload one.
Track Your Ballot
After you request your absentee ballot, check the MyVote WI website in the coming days to see when your ballot was mailed and where it is in transit.
Completing Your Absentee Ballot
When your ballot arrives, vote in the presence of an adult witness. Place the ballot in the return envelope and sign. Have your witness sign and provide their name and address.
Returning Your Ballot
Return your ballot either by mail or at one of the secure designated locations across the city. Drop boxes open three weeks before Election Day.
Voters with disabilities may have help returning their ballot from a person of their choice. The assistant can be any individual except the voter's employer, their union representative, or a candidate on the ballot.
After returning your absentee ballot, check MyVote WI website to confirm it has been received.
The Clerk's Office sends all absentee ballots to the polls to be counted on Election Day.
