The City of Madison is creating a network of Community Resilience Hubs. A Community Resilience Hub builds on a trusted, local community space that is familiar to residents, and expands its capabilities to support the neighborhood during emergencies.

Madison can experience events like severe weather, extreme temperatures, power outages, poor air quality, and floods. Community Resilience Hubs can provide information and resources to help residents respond to and recover from those events close to home. These resources could include distribution of supplies, a place to charge a device, relief from the elements, or disaster recovery resources.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Dane County's Allied Family Center and Wisconsin Youth Company's Elver Park Neighborhood Center are the first two organizations to join the Community Resilience Hub Network.

"As our climate changes, Madison is experiencing more dangerous weather events that disrupt our daily lives," said Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway. "Community Resilience Hubs offer an efficient way to connect the community with needed resources, closer to where people live, and provide support until conditions return to normal.

“The Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County is proud to provide services and programming that have a positive impact on families in the Allied-Dunn's Marsh Neighborhood. Joining the Community Resilience Hub Network is another way we can serve our neighbors facing unexpected challenges," said Taylor Jackson, Interim President & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Dane County. "In addition to serving our youth, we want to ensure we are providing resources and support to the communities we serve. Becoming a Community Resilience Hub is a natural extension of that work, allowing us to be a resource for families and neighbors when they need it most."

"Elver Park Neighborhood Center is proud to join as an inaugural member of the Community Resilience Hub Network. As a longstanding community pillar dedicated to strengthening our neighborhood, we view this partnership as an important step to ensuring we are equipped to serve and support our community in case of emergencies," said Jennifer Weber, Director of Neighborhood Centers at Wisconsin Youth Company. "We know the importance of preparedness and recovery aid during times of crisis and are honored to be a part of these efforts in southwest Madison.

The City of Madison looks forward to expanding the network and collaborating with other community organizations that want to serve their neighbors in this capacity.
