Tomorrow night the City of Madison is hosting a virtual public information meeting on the three housing proposals up for consideration by the Common Council.

The public meeting will be an opportunity to learn more about the proposals and ask questions to staff and policymakers. A recording will also be available after the meeting. We hope to see you there!

Mayor's Message

"Madison has an excellent parks system and since July is Parks & Recreation month, I want to encourage Madison residents to take full advantage of our city’s 290+ parks and conservation areas.

All this month, Madison Parks is partnering with Madison School & Community Recreation to offer free community events. Our popular Parks Alive events feature free food and music in our neighborhood parks. There are also art activities, outdoor movie nights, nature tours, fitness workshops, and classes on standup paddleboarding and Nordic walking.

These events are in addition to the hundreds of recreational opportunities offered by Madison Parks. The Goodman Pool is already in full swing for the summer season, as are the splash pads at Cypress, Elver and Reindahl Parks. If you haven’t had a chance to see the Royal Thai Pavilion and Gardens at Olbrich Park, this cultural treasure has been recently restored to its full grandeur and is worth a visit.

Madison takes a lot of pride in our parks, and we are lucky to have these green oases. Pick a day or two this month to explore!"

— Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway

Finance Director David Schmiedicke presented an update on the 2026 budget process during a recent meeting of the Finance Committee.
