Speed, Seed, EV Charging, Owen History, and CDBG
posted- Speeding Concerns: I'm getting an uptick in District 19 residents expressing concern about speeding and other forms of careless driving. The Madison Police Department has a dedicated Traffic Enforcement and Safety Team that takes community traffic complaints seriously and works to address them. MPD isn't staffed to respond immediately to every complaint, but they log all citizen complaints and that helps them prioritize targeted enforcement campaigns. You can reach them in two ways:
- Free Garden Seeds: Beginning today, March 2, Alicia Ashman Library and seven other neighborhood libraries are offering vegetable, flower, and herb garden seeds. They are free while supplies last.
- EV Charging Station Grants: Many single-family homeowners have already installed electric vehicle charging equipment and many newer apartment buildings have EV charging stations. That still leaves many gaps, especially in District 19. The aim of the Charge Up Dane County Program is to fill gaps in EV charging infrastructure so that everyone can access affordable EV charging. Key to this effort is identifying sites where Dane County can install the grant-funded EV charging infrastructure. The County identifies site hosts via a simple Request for Proposals (RFP) process. (use title link above). Businesses and places of worship on arterial streets are especially encouraged to apply.
- Learn about the History of Owen Conservation Park: Join Beth Whitaker of Friends of Owen Conservation Park at 1:30 pm on Saturday, March 14 for an informative dive into the history of this amazing District 19 park.

- CDBG: The Community Development Block Grants Committee (CDBG) is one of Madison's primary vehicles for incentivizing the development of affordable housing. The agenda for the Thursday, March 4 meeting was published today.
