Volunteer to Represent District 20 Alder
postedA great opportunity to provide input on the “bike ability” network for the SW Area Plan. Specific to the ask: Bike Equity. If interested please email me at district20@cityofmadison.com. Full Disclosure: I never owned a bike in my youth. I purchased my first bike when I became an Alder in 2015. Asking for volunteers from District 20 to represent me.

Hello Alders Duncan, Lankella, Figueroa Cole, Guequierre, and Harrington-McKinney,
Mark, Paul, and I are with Madison Bikes, a local community bike advocacy organization. Madison Bike Week is May 30 - June 7 with dozens of events and activities across the city.
Since 2023, we've led "Alder rides" through different Madison districts to see the highs and lows of bike (and pedestrian) infrastructure from street level. Ald John Duncan and former Ald Slack joined our inaugural ride in 2023, Yanette Figueroa Cole toured the south side in 2024, and last year we took Sean O'Brien and Derek Field back and forth over Stoughton Rd.
This year, the planned routeis over the Southwest Area Plan. The ride would be about 11 miles, take about two hours, and cover forthcoming projects, SW Area plan items, neglected areas, known problems, and emerging needs. The ride would be open to the public, but is very much for YOU and your interests. (if there are places you'd like to include, let me know!)
Can you use this simple form to help me choose a date and time?
There's no pressure; if you don't want to come or end up cancelling at the last minute, no problem. But if you are able to join, I promise it'll be time well-spent. And if you need a loaner e-bike or e-trike, or help getting your bike ready, please let me know.
Thanks!
-Craig Weinhold
