Expanded North Shore Drive Closure at Railroad Crossing
postedBeginning at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, August 3, North Shore Drive will be closed at the railroad crossing on the curve where North Shore Drive transitions to Proudfit Street. The closure is necessary to allow Wisconsin & Southern Railroad to replace the railroad crossing and provide a smoother crossing surface.
The bike path and sidewalks at the crossing will also close during this work. Bicyclists and pedestrians will be detoured via West Main Street and the Southwest Path. People walking and bicycling should use caution when crossing Proudfit Street and should utilize the flashing beacons to alert motorists that they are crossing the street.
The work is expected to be completed and the street and path reopened by 6:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7.
To minimize impacts to the traveling public, this work has been scheduled while the existing closure of North Shore Drive at John Nolen Drive remains in place.
