Operator Uninjured After Lawnmower Slips Into Ditch, Ignites

Engine 3 responded to Lock Lane for an outdoor vehicle on fire. The 911 caller was not sure what type of outdoor vehicle it was. 

Upon arrival, Engine Co. 3 found a fully involved riding lawnmower resting vertically in a ditch down a small embankment. 

Firefighters extinguished the fire and spoke with the operator of the lawnmower. The operator said he was trying to cut the grass at the edge of the ditch when the rear wheel slid down the embankment. This caused the entire mower to turn and roll backwards down the embankment, ultimately tipping vertically. A fire ignited after gasoline began leaking from the mower. 

The operator escaped the incident uninjured.
