Election Results, Atwood Reconstruction, Autumn Ridge Path - D15 Update 2/27/23
postedPrimary Election Results
Last week’s primary election results will move WI Supreme Court candidates Janet C. Protasiewicz (47%) & Daniel Kelly (24%) to the April ballot along with Madison Mayor candidates Satya Rhodes-Conway (60%) & Gloria Reyes (28%). The contest for District 15 alder will be between candidates Brad Hinkfuss & Dina Nina Martinez-Rutherford (there was no primary election for this seat).
D15 voters had a great turnout at 50% of registered voters compared to the citywide turnout of 39% (also a historically high turnout for a spring primary election) and D15 results tracked citywide results closely with Rhodes-Conway garnering 61% of D15 mayoral votes & Reyes carrying 28%. You can find the detailed countywide results here.

Common Council Meeting
On Tuesday, the Common Council will meet. You can find all the meeting details and register to provide comments here. Agenda items that may be of interest include:
-
Item 3 - Amending Supplemental Regulations within Section 28.151 MGO and Definitions within Section 28.211 of the Madison General Ordinances to Update Definitions of “Family”. - You can find more info on this proposal in my previous update here.
-
Item 59 Repealing MGO 23.11 which regulated curfew hours for juveniles. - I am sponsoring the repeal of this outdated ordinance that makes it illegal for youth age 12-17 to ‘be upon the streets or alleys or public places within the City of Madison during curfew hours’ except under certain situations. The National Youth Rights Association has good information about why this sort of discriminatory ordinance should be repealed here.
Autumn Ridge Path
On Thursday, there will be a public information meeting on the project that will create a new path connection between Eastmorland, Hiestand, and Sycamore Parks and surrounding neighborhoods. More details on the project and registration for the meeting can be found here.
