Westside Community Market Details
You will find the Westside Community Market at 505 South Rosa Rd. The market is within the Research Park area, and there is plenty of free parking.
Food scraps drop-off will be available from 7:00am to 12:30pm on Saturdays.
The appropriate scraps will be accepted every Saturday at this market from May 3, 2025 and ending on November 1, 2025.
What food scraps can you bring to the market?
You can bring coffee grounds, eggshells, raw fruits, raw vegetables, and other similar scraps.
Do not bring meat, bones, baked goods, compostable plastics, paper products, grease, or dairy products (including cheese).
Read more about what you can, and cannot, bring in for composting to the food scraps drop-off sites on the Streets Division’s Food Scraps website.
Staff at the food scraps drop-off tent will be there to help you, too, if you have any questions.
Are there other food scraps drop-off sites?
Yes!
Our Eastside Farmers’ Market site at McPike Park started on Tuesday, April 29. And our South Madison Market will start on June 3, 2025.
More details about the City of Madison sites can be found on our food scraps website.
What’s the composting goal for the City of Madison this year?
In 2023, our goal was to compost the weight of two hippopotamuses. In 2024, the goal was to reach the weight of two mammoths. Thanks to your great response, we cleared those goals.
This year we want to compost 40,000 pounds, which is the weight of a small herd of bison.
With your help, we can surely reach this goal, too. We just need you to join the herd and bring your scraps down to one of our markets. We hope to see you there.
