Incident Summary

Engine 3 and Medic 3 responded to 1101 Williamson Street for a minivan that crashed through a brick support column in the front of the building. Medic 3 was returned after Engine 3 determined there were no injuries.

The cafe was evacuated, and a property owner shut down electricity to the front of the store as a safety precaution. City of Madison Building Inspection was called to the scene, and a tow truck responded to remove the minivan.

The column that was compromised by the crash had been supporting the front corner of the building. The MFD Heavy Urban Rescue Team shored up the area until a permanent column is reinstalled.

A second vehicle was found nearby with minor front-end damage but no injuries were reported. Madison Police were on scene to investigate the cause of the crash.
