Dane County Affordable Housing Funds Policy
postedNavigation
Navigating city processes, the website, and Legistar can be incredibly challenging! When I struggle to find the answers I need, I share the steps I took to help others learn alongside me.
Today, I want to share my information-seeking journey regarding the County Affordable Housing Policy. After several attempts to find what I was looking for, I contacted Supervisor Wegleintner for guidance. Within seconds, she provided me with a link! Thank you, Heidi!
You can find the landing page for the program here. The policy discussions started in 2015. For additional details about the policy, be sure to check out the 2024 Dane County ADHF FAQ. Their funding priorities are different than the city:
- Projects designed to serve individuals who are chronically homeless, meaning those who are either:
- An unaccompanied homeless individual with a disabling condition who has been continuously homeless for a year or more, or
- An unaccompanied individual with a disabling condition who has had at least four episodes of homelessness in the past three years. Disabling conditions include mental illness, alcohol, and drug addictions.
- Projects are designed to serve the veteran population experiencing homelessness.
- Very low-income families and/or families experiencing homelessness.
- Persons with arrest and conviction records.
- Individuals who are elderly.
- Individuals with disabilities.
The city policy doesn't go to this level of affordability—bravo to the county! The city uses the transit-oriented overlay to restrict project location. You can see a city map here.
This page also includes a map showing all the locations supported by the policy over the years.
- Click on the marker to see project details.
- You can use the year of the project and the table of resolutions listed below to learn more.
- Please note that the projects awarded in 2024 may not yet appear on the map.
