West Washington Avenue Closure
postedStarting Friday, June 13 at 7:00 p.m., the City Community Development Authority’s contractor, Krupp General Contractors, will close West Washington Avenue, between the Proudfit/Regent/West Washington intersection and the Vilas/South Park/West Washington intersection, to deconstruct the existing pedestrian bridge.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured using South Park Street and Regent Street.
Brittingham Park vehicular access will be maintained for park users from South Park Street. Access will also be maintained for adjacent residents.
The street will reopen to normal conditions by the morning of Monday, June 16 at the latest. The street will reopen earlier if work is completed ahead of schedule.
The pedestrian bridge will be replaced with an improved at-grade street crosswalk. The work is required to allow for the redevelopment of the CDA properties on the Triangle.
