The information provided below is about some of the calls officers have responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working on the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on October 29 to 6:00am on October 30, we received 428 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 62
  • East: 98
  • Midtown: 70
  • North: 86
  • South: 53
  • West: 52
  • Other: 7

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Wednesday, October 29:

  • 3:34am – Central – Domestic Disturbance: Caller reported their neighbors were arguing since around 3am. Contact was made with two subjects (21-year-old female and 24-year-old male). Male subject reported being struck by the female approximately 10 times. The male subject had visible injuries. The female subject was arrested after being deemed the predominant aggressor. The male subject inserted himself into this situation, blocked the door and told officers they would not be taking the female with them. The male subject was arrested after not complying with officers’ orders. The female subject was arrested for domestic battery and domestic disorderly conduct. The male subject was arrested for resisting and obstructing.
  • 5:28am – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 23-year-old male subject. The subject called the victim names, poured water on their personal property, put his hands around the victim’s neck and threw the victim to the ground. The subject actively resisted officers when they arrested him. The subject was arrested for domestic battery, domestic disorderly conduct, and resisting.
  • 8:19am – Central – Domestic Disturbance: Two subjects were arrested overnight as part of a domestic investigation. The subjects bailed out and got into an argument while walking. A 24-year-old male subject damaged the other subject’s laptop and shattered some glassware. The subject also shoved the other subject before he left the residence. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.  
  • 4:54pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance between a male and a female subject at a motel in the 4800 block of Hayes Road. The woman, 33, began striking the man’s head with a baton, among other things. He lost consciousness. The female subject fled the scene and was apprehended. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, substantial battery, and resisting.
  • 4:58pm – East – OMVWI Arrest/Intoxicated Driver:  Officers responded to the intersection of Burke Road and City View Drive for reports of a hit-and-run accident. Police found a number of crashes occurred due to an erratic driver.  The 33-year-old female driver led officers on a pursuit. Once the subject stopped her vehicle in traffic, she actively resisted officers when they arrested her. The female subject, who was also a suspect in a recent domestic incident, faces multiple OWI changes, including hit and run to an occupied vehicle.
  • 4:59pm – Midtown – Assist EMS/Fire: Police were dispatched to Memorial High School to assist EMS on a call. Witnesses said a 15-year-old student fell and hit their head and started seizing while playing basketball. The student was hospitalized and listed in critical condition. The incident appears medical in nature.
  • 7:53pm – East – OMVWI Arrest/Intoxicated Driver: Police were called to the 4700 block of Lien Road for reports of a crash in a parking lot. One subject confronts the other driver which escalated to one subject punching the other in the face. Officers said the motorist, 46, was combative and resisted officers prior to being arrested and taken to the Dane County Jail for battery, disorderly conduct, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense), and resisting.
  • 11:27pm – West – Disturbance: Officers responded to calls regarding a loud disturbance and someone yelling for help at a hotel on Junction Court. When officers arrived, the subject falsely identified himself. Officers, concerned about the welfare of the occupants in the hotel room, forced entry into the room. An uncooperative female was found. A 46-year-old male subject, who had outstanding warrants, was arrested for obstructing.

Thursday, October 30:

  • 1:57am – Central – Fight Call: Officers responded to a fight in the 400 block of State Street. Three subjects were involved in the altercation. During officers’ involvement to break up the fight, one of the subjects grabbed an officer.  A MK9 is then used to subdue the subject. All three subjects were arrested on various charges.
  • 3:55am – East – Battery Agg/Substantial: Officers are called to the area of Topaz Lane and Goldfinch Drive, to a report of a 27-year-old woman being battered. The subject said while attempting to purchase marijuana from a seller she interacted with on social media, ended with the subject being battered before her attackers fled. EMS attended the subject’s injuries, including a possible concussion. The case is still active.
