Tragic Accident on Cross Country Rd – Community Update

posted

I am deeply saddened to share that early Saturday morning, November 8, 2025, a tragic single-vehicle crash occurred in the 6800 block of Cross Country Rd, resulting in multiple fatalities. The Madison Police Department (MPD), Madison Fire Department, and the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene.

According to MPD, the vehicle was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when it lost control, left the roadway, and rolled before coming to rest in the westbound lanes. Four adults were in the vehicle; three died at the scene, and one was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Our thoughts are with the families, friends, and loved ones affected by this devastating event. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the first responders and medical personnel for their dedicated and compassionate response.

As we process this tragedy, I gently urge all residents to drive carefully, adhere to posted speed limits, and remain alert, especially as we move into the winter season when road conditions can deteriorate quickly. Even familiar routes can become dangerous with snow, ice, and reduced visibility.

Community Discussion:
I invite residents to join the upcoming District 7 Lunch & Learn Session on Thursday, November 13, where we will take time to address questions and concerns about traffic safety in our community, including along Cross Country Rd and nearby areas.

Please keep those impacted in your thoughts during this difficult time, and let’s continue to look out for one another on our roads.
