Let's talk Budget 2026 Adoption

On Tuesday, the city council adopted the 2026 budget, and on Wednesday, the County Executive signed off on the Supervisors' amended Budget.

Thanks to all the public servants who support us and the elected officials in navigating the budget process. Mark your calendars, next season starts in April 2027.

Budget Highlights

  • Both the City and County budgets allocate additional funds toward housing/homelessness interventions (Madison's $1.7M for shelter; County's $1.4 M in additional shelter support).
  • For city-level services, Madison is directing funds toward library expansion, EMS capacity, affordable housing, and housing redevelopment.

Amendments

The amended Budget will be published in the next few days. I had a couple of amendments: See the file item 1 & 8 for details

  1. Increased three permanent part-time Community Connector positions from 0.6 FTE each to 0.8 FTE each. Learn more about the connectors' work here
  2. Adjusted the Public Health Fund to turn three Violence Prevention existing .5 FTE outreach positions into full-time roles
