Where are you stationed?
I am currently working out of Station 9 (Midvale Blvd.) on the 'B' shift.

What is something unique about the territory you serve?
Something unique about Station 9's territory are the historic residential neighborhoods that it includes. We have more homes in our area that have very vintage construction and building layouts.

Have you always wanted to be a firefighter? If not, what other careers did you consider?
I have not always wanted to be a firefighter. During my time in college, I considered and took classes in areas such as Social Work, Secondary Education, Kinesiology, and Criminal Justice, all of which were an interest of mine until I found out how well I would fit into the role of a firefighter.

What has been your most memorable day or experience so far?
My most memorable day on the job so far really comes from Smoke Divers Week in the academy. Smoke Divers is meant to be a physical and mental test of everything you've learned up to that point and is considered to be the peak of the academy in many ways. It's hard to choose a specific day in that week, but the entire week will always be memorable for me because of the bonding and coming together that we did as a recruit class.

What is something interesting that people might not know about your position as a firefighter/EMT?
Something people may not know about a position as a firefighter/EMT is how much each day at work can vary from the next. Yes, each day has its framework or plan, but each call, each drill or training, each interaction with the community will always be different. Best job in the world.

If you were hosting a dinner party, what would you prepare and who would you invite?
I would have to say that I would grill some brats in this scenario. I love brats, and grilling is great. It's easy and gives food great flavor. Not only that, but it is very easy to socialize while you're at the grill cooking, so I could talk with my guests. I would invite my some close friends that stood up in my wedding. I haven't seen some of them in a while because they moved out of state.
