MFD Wecomes New Engine to the East Side

A new fire engine is now in service at Fire Station 13!
Engine 13 is a 2025 Pierce Enforcer Engine with a 1500 gallons-per-minute pump and 500-gallon tank. It is equipped with ground ladders, fire hose, and tools. In addition, Engine 13 carries emergency medical equipment including a defibrillator, oxygen, and immobilization gear.
Apparatus Engineers throughout the department had the opportunity to get up close with the new engine during a series of trainings hosted by Reliant Apparatus and the MFD Fire Training Division.
Jason Krueger, President of Reliant Fire Apparatus, Inc. walked through the best practices for long-term maintenance and operation of the rig, highlighted the new features and improvements this model provides, and discussed its safety features.
This rig features a Waterous Midship Pump, a change from the Hale pumps that exist on our previous rigs. An audible alarm alerts the engineer when tank levels are low.
Additionally, the 12 gallons-per-minute foam pump provides the capacity to handle structure, wildland, automotive, and flammable liquid fires with the push of a button.
The old "Engine 13" is now a reserve engine that will be used when frontline rigs are taken out of service for maintenance or repairs.
The new Engine 13 was welcomed home on Monday, December 15 by Lieutenant Peter Friedericks, Apparatus Engineer Christopher Hahn, Firefighter/EMT Jeffrey Hoefen, and Firefighter/Paramedic John Roland.
