Multi-space Meter Trial: Pay by Space - 300 North Henry St. and 100 West Main St.

posted

On Monday, April 30, 2007 the Parking Utility and Duncan Solutions will begin a 90 trial of pay-by-space multi-space meters on 300 N. Henry St and 100 W. Main St. A single multi-space meter will replace the existing 14 single pole meters. The new meter will accept credit and debit cards along with the usual coins. This will benefit parking customers who may be parking downtown with insufficient change to pay for the desired amount of time. Hopefully this will reduce the number of parking citations and improve the quality of a downtown visit. Following the 90-day trial, the single space meters will be re-installed while the Parking Utility analyzes the results from a financial, operational and customer service perspective. If the trial is satisfactory, the Parking Utility will issue an RFP to purchase permanent multi-space meters. The Mayor and downtown business representatives will demonstrate the new multi-space meter at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 in the 300 block of North Henry Street. Please join us in implementing this valuable service to downtown parking customers. ___________ _______________________________________ David C.
