The Madison Parks Division is pleased to announce that due to the predicted warm weather this holiday weekend, there will be lifeguard services at two of the Madison beaches.

A volunteer work day is set for Saturday, May 20, at 9a.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery, 1 Speedway Rd.. Volunteers will be given a section of the cemetery and the flags to place on the headstones.

Special Saturday morning sale for Goodman Pool Season Passes on May 13, 2006 from 8a.m.-noon.

All of the outdoor ice rinks are closed for the season. The ski trails are currently open, but in poor condition. With the rain in the forecast, the trails may also close for the season later this week.

Due to deteriorating snow conditions, the cross-country ski trails in the City of Madison parks are closed. As a reminder, the outdoor ice rinks are closed for the season.

All of the city of Madison's outdoor ice rinks are closed for the season. The outdoor ice rink season typically ends mid to late February.

Tenney and Vilas Park ice rinks will be open for skating this weekend. Vilas Park has skating only at the figure-skating rink. The lagoon and hockey rink are closed.

The ski trails are groomed and open at the following locations: Odana Golf Course, Elver Park, Owen Conservation Park, S.Cherokee Marsh, Monona Golf Course, and Turville Woods.

The ski trails at Odana Golf Course and Elver Park were groomed for both ski and skate skiing. The trails will be re-groomed again Sunday morning.

Due to the snow, all of the outdoor ice rinks will be closed on Thursday.

Tenney Park Ice Rink will be open for skating Friday at 2p.m. The Hockey Rink will be closed and the lights will not be on.

Despite the recent colder temperatures, the outdoor ice rinks remain closed. The ice conditions remain thin and hazardous at ALL of the outdoor ice rinks.
