Host Your Own After Hours Event at Vilas and Tenney Park
We are now offering exclusive after-hours use of two of our premiere ice skating locations and shelters: Vilas Park and Tenney Park. These locations provide the picturesque location for a celebration with their lit frozen lagoons and rinks, cozy shelters, and the peacefulness of a winter night.
The John Wall Family Pavilion in Tenney Park is a great location for your next office party, birthday party or holiday celebration.
This great central location is situated adjacent to the Henry Vilas Zoo. Where else can you ice skate and hear a lion roar?
Your reservation will include:
- Almost two hours of exclusive use of the shelter from 9:15-11:00pm
- Exclusive use of the shelter after hours that seats 60
- Exclusive use of the frozen lagoon and hockey rink
- A staff member on site
- Picnic tables and benches for seating
- Concession stand will be open and available if desired
- Reservation fee is $110
- If you’d like to make your reservation a skate party, you can have unlimited skate rentals for an additional $50.
Friday and Saturday evenings from 9:15-11:00pm during the ice skating season, weather permitting.
The concession stand will be open and available for your guests. Groups may bring in or cater in their own food and drinks. If you will be having alcohol at Tenney Park, you must also purchase an alcohol permit since Tenney is a no alcohol park.

Making a reservation
Reservations are taken over the phone or in person at the City of Madison Parks Office. Please call (608) 266-4711 or stop by 210 MLK Jr Blvd, Room 104 from Mon - Fri, 8 am - 4:15 pm. All reservations must be made at least 7 days in advance.
Payment is due upon reservation by cash, check or credit card.
Cancellations and inclement weather policyCancellation Policy
If the participants cancel within 5 days of their reservation date and time, their registration fee will be refunded, minus a $10 administration fee. If event is cancelled by the Madison Parks Staff due to inclement weather, we will try to reschedule your reservations or the reservation fee will be fully refunded.
Please note that winter weather is unpredictable and the conditions of our ice rinks, sledding hills, and cross-country ski trails change frequently. If there is substantial snow, rain, or other inclement weather, our facilities (shelters, trails, and rinks) will be closed and your reservation will be cancelled. A Madison Parks staff will make final decision on canceling due to inclement weather. The groups will be notified as soon as possible. If your reservation is cancelled due by a Madison Parks staff member because of inclement conditions, you will receive a full refund.
