The Madison Parks Division will replace the athletic field turf at Breese Stevens Field in 2026. The current artificial turf, installed in 2014, has reached the end of its useful life. This project is a necessary part of facility maintenance to ensure the continued use of the field for athletic events.
In 2024, Madison Parks hired a consulting firm to evaluate available turf systems for the replacement. A key requirement of the evaluation was that the new system must meet FIFA standards for professional soccer, as Breese Stevens Field is home to Forward Madison FC.
On December 9, 2025, the public works construction contract to install the new field turf was awarded to Joe Daniels Construction. Construction is anticipated to begin in March 2026, with substantial completion by May 2026.
