The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on October 24 to 6:00am on October 27, we received 1,214 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Friday, October 24:
Priority calls only from 4:46pm to 5:51pm due to calls for service/resources available/staffing.
- 6:21am - North – Intoxicated Driver: Officers responded, along with MFD, to a report of a subject (59-year-old male) passed out in an idling vehicle that was blocking a driveway for several hours. The subject/driver was contacted and not found to live in the area. The driver showed signs of impairment (eyes were bloodshot/glassy, eyes dilated). Open intoxicants were also observed in the vehicle. Field sobriety tests were administered. The subject performed poorly and was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense).
- 8:47am - Midtown – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. Officers learned that maintenance was inside a unit when they observed an unfamiliar minor child who was non-verbal, severely autistic and visually impaired. Concerns were raised for the child’s welfare as they were left in the care of another subject who had significant mental health concerns. CARES responded. The child was transported to a local hospital. Child Protective Services notified. Investigation continuing.
- 9:45am - East – Preserve the Peace: Officers received a preserve the peace request. The caller advised that a 33-year-old male subject on scene was wanted (domestic-incident). The subject was contacted and arrested for the outstanding probable cause from the previous domestic incident and new charges of domestic false imprisonment, domestic battery, and domestic disorderly conduct.
- 10:40am - South – Adult Arrested Person: Officers were advised of the location of a wanted subject (40-year-old male). The subject was contacted. The subject actively resisted officers. The subject was transported to a local hospital for a medical clearance before being booked into jail on outstanding probable cause (2 counts of theft) and a new charge of resisting.
- 12:23pm - North – Disturbance: Officers responded to the BRT station (2200 block of E. Washington Ave) for multiple reports of disturbance with a possible gun involved. No one on scene involved. Information on a suspect vehicle was provided. The vehicle was located unoccupied in a parking lot on E. Dayton Street. Investigation continuing.
- 1:12pm - South – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of an emergency detention (sought/approved). Local placement secured. Officers disengaged.
- 1:14pm - East – Stolen Auto: A vehicle was reported stolen from a dealership lot. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.
- 3:49pm - Central – Crash with Injuries: Officers responded to a vehicle vs. electric scooter crash. The subject operating the scooter lost consciousness and was transported to a local hospital. The driver (48-year-old male) was asked to perform field sobriety tests. The subject refused. The subject was arrested for felony operating a motor vehicle while under the influence causing injury.
- 4:41pm - North – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (46-year-old male). Medical Examiner’s office responded. Decedent had a history of alcoholism and medical/health concerns. Nothing suspicious identified at this time. Autopsy pending.
- 5:41pm - North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance involving a 17-year-old male subject. The subject struck the victim in the arm and put them in a chokehold. The subject was arrested for battery, disorderly conduct, and strangulation.
- 7:47pm - North – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (83-year-old subject). Lifesaving measures attempted but were not successful. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified. Decedent had recent surgery that they were recovering from.
- 7:57pm - East – Check Person: Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of an emergency detention (sought/approved). The subject was transported to Winnebago upon a medical clearance.
- 10:05pm - Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers were requested to assist with a subject (49-year-old male) who needed to receive a shot for their mental health at a local hospital. The subject was transported to a local hospital where the subject began acting up and yelling/threatening hospital staff. The subject received their shot and was dropped off at an address of his choosing. The subject then called 911 and stated he had a grenade. Officers located the subject and took him into custody. Emergency detention sought but not approved. The subject was arrested for threats to health care worker, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony bail jumping.
- 10:50pm – East – Sexual Assault of a Child: Officers responded to a report of a sexual assault of a child that occurred the day prior. Child Protective Services notified. Investigation continuing.
Saturday, October 25:
Priority calls only from 11:04pm to 11:49pm due to calls for service/resources available/staffing.
- 5:18am - East – Intoxicated Driver: Officers responded to a report of a vehicle missing a rear wheel (E. Washington Ave/Mendota St). The driver was identified as a 33-year-old female subject. The subject admitted to driving the vehicle and was found to be under the influence. The subject kicked an officer. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, resisting, battery to law enforcement, and threats to law enforcement. The subject’s poor behavior continued at jail and she ended up in seg.
- 10:51am - East – Check Person: A 42-year-old female subject was naked below the waist, wrapped in a blanket, and walking in the middle of the roadway. The subject had drug paraphernalia on her when officers made contact. The subject was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
- 12:27pm - Midtown – Sexual Assault: Officers responded to a report of a sexual assault involving a 37-year-old male subject (not on scene/not contacted). Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.
- 4:01pm – West – Disturbance: Officers responded to a funeral home for a disturbance. It was estimated that 300 people were at the service and that someone with a gun was present. Officers arrived and received little cooperation from those on scene. Investigation continuing.
- 6:01pm - East – Retail Theft: Officers responded to a business for a retail theft involving a 60-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for theft.
- 10:54pm - West – Crash: A victim was driving on the beltline when they were struck by a driver/vehicle driving at a high-rate of speed (racing two other vehicles). The victim’s vehicle and the suspect vehicle went into the ditch. The occupant(s) from the suspect vehicle fled and were not on scene when officers arrived. Victim not injured. Investigation continuing.
- 11:06pm - East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report of a 19-year-old male subject urinating in a parking lot of a business. The subject refused to leave the premises. Officers went to take the subject into protective custody and he went dead weight. A medical clearance was obtained and the subject was arrested for resisting, underage person consuming alcohol and urinating in public.
Sunday, October 26:

- 12:40am - Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance where a victim reported they were hit with an axe on their hand. EMS provided first aid to the victim. The suspect was identified as 32-year-old male subject. The subject was located and arrested for 2nd degree reckless endangering safety, carrying a concealed weapon and a probation/parole hold. The hatchet was located/recovered.
- 4:17am – Midtown – Intoxicated Driver: Officers responded to a vehicle vs. building crash with a possible pin. A 30-year-old male subject/driver was trying to leave the parking lot when he struck a subject and a building. The victim suffered injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence causing injury.
- 8:02am - South – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (85-year-old male). Medical Examiner’s office responded. Decedent had a history of health/medical concerns. Decedent was under Hospice care. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 9:19am - East – Sexual Assault: Officers met with two subjects who may have been sexually assaulted overnight. Investigation continuing.
- 9:33am - East – Juvenile Arrest: A missing juvenile from Memphis, TN was reported to be on a bus to Madison. Contact made with the juvenile when they arrived. The juvenile was cooperative. The juvenile’s girlfriend (15-year-old female) was not cooperative and was banging on the squad windows. The female was arrested for resisting and transported to the Juvenile Reception Center. Arrangements were made for the missing juvenile to be reunited with their family.
- 10:41am - North – Road Rage: Caller reported a subject in a vehicle displayed a gun on Stoughton Road/E. Washington Ave. Officers contacted the caller who provided a few details and then hung up on them. Officers made contact at the residence of the registered owner of the suspect vehicle. Subject contacted and they admitted they were involved in a road rage incident but denied having a gun. Consent search conducted. Nothing located. Subject released.
- 1:56pm - West – Crash: Officers responded to a single-vehicle crash (N. Pleasant View Rd/Blackhawk Rd). The driver (55-year-old male) was transported to a local hospital where he was admitted. Paperwork was left with order-in details for the driver for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (6th offense). Officers disengaged.
- 4:09pm - East – Intoxicated Driver: A minor calls 911 to report their father is driving erratically and possibly intoxicated. Contact made with the father/driver (48-year-old male) and the minor. The driver failed field sobriety tests. The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence with a passenger under the age of 16. The driver was also charged with reckless driving. The minor was released to their mother. Child Protective Services notified.
- 5:19pm - West – Check Person: Officers responded, along with CARES, to check the welfare of a subject who was reportedly not taking care of themselves. The subject was transported to a local hospital. An emergency detention was sought/approved. Placement pending.
- 6:27pm - West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (74-year-old male). Lifesaving measures attempted but not successful. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Decedent had a history of health/medical concerns. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 6:52pm - East – Check Area: Officers responded to a residence for a 911 disconnect. Two young children were found to have been put in the bathtub and left unattended for 10-15 minutes. The youngest child was found floating, unresponsive, and blue. CPR performed. The child is revived. The child was transported to a local hospital. The father (32-year-old male) was arrested for child neglect. Additional investigation necessary. Other charges may be forthcoming. Child Protective Services notified.
- 8:19pm - West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (57-year-old male). Lifesaving measures attempted and the subject was transported to local hospital where they were pronounced deceased. The subject had a history of drug use. Drugs were identified in his toxicology reports. Autopsy pending. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.
- 9:21pm - Central – Crash: Officers responded to a crash (E. Johnson St/N Pinckney St). One of the drivers (39-year-old female) showed signs of impairment. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense) after she failed field sobriety tests.
- 10:56pm - Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to the 500 block of State Street for a disturbance caused by a 38-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, trespassing and a probation/parole hold. The subject was at the same location the previous day causing a disturbance and implying he had a knife. The subject threatened an officer as he was being taken into custody. The subject received an additional charge of threats to law enforcement.
- 11:14pm – East – Missing Adult: A 50-year-old male subject was reported as missing from his rehab facility. Attempt to locate aired. The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases.
