Internships & Other Opportunities

The Madison Police Department provides opportunities for internships during the summer:

  • Who are currently enrolled in an Associate's degree program or a Bachelor's program.
  • Interested applicants should have an interest in Policing, Criminal Justice or related fields.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Submit an application for our internship program.

Applications must be submitted by March 15. If you are interested in applying for an internship, please complete the application and send a completed Authorization for Release of Information form by email to Join MPD.

As part of the application, please complete the following essay questions:

  • What do you hope to learn from an internship with MPD?
  • How can you contribute to MPD based on your own experiences, skills and abilities?

The Process

  • Competitive process
  • 20-25 unpaid internships
  1. Applications will be reviewed Application Form (Word) | Application Form  Authorization for Release of Information form
  2. Selected applicants will be interviewed in the spring.
  3. Background check will be completed on selected applicants.
  4. Internship offers will be extended at the end of March/early April.
  5. Flexible work assignments in various teams on the department.
