Midtown/South/West District Community Policing Team

The mission of our Community Policing Team (CPT) is to serve as a resource that effectively collaborate(s) with community stakeholders, external partners and units within our department in an effort to problem solve and address issues unique to these three police districts. Responsiveness to community needs and ensuring the department's accessibility to all members of the community are pivotal in fulfilling this mission. The CPT is responsive to the priorities of the districts and department based on current trends and activity.

The Midtown/South/West District CPT is made up of one sergeant and five officers and they are housed out of the Midtown District Station.

Sergeant Angela Straka

I have been with the Madison Police Department for approximately 16 years. During this period, I have worked all over the city on various shifts. I was a former member of the Narcotics Task Force and SWAT Negotiation Team. I am excited to start this new endeavor and to meet and work with the residents of the West/Midtown/South Districts. This is my first year as a Sergeant for the Community Policing Team and I can’t wait for the new opportunities that it will present.

Elizabeth Erickson

Hello, I'm Officer Elizabeth Erickson. I've been with MPD since 2018. My primary assignment up to this point has been in patrol services. In addition to patrol I am also a part time rider on the MPD Mounted Unit, a mental health liaison, a member of our Special Events Team; with specialties on our medic and bike teams, an adjunct instructor for our pre-service academy, a member of Amigos En Azul, a member of MPD Pride, and a CRASE instructor. I love getting to know the members of our community and value the richness of diversity that helps us grow from one another. The more we know about each other the better we can bridge gaps and work in partnership towards community goals. I hope to make many meaningful connections and help facilitate positive change in the community and I look forward to serving the West, Midtown, and South Districts this year.
