Emerald Ash Borer
In late 2013, Madison confirmed Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) in an ash tree in the Warner Park area. Many towns and counties throughout Wisconsin have confirmed Emerald Ash Borer. In fact, the entire state of Wisconsin was placed under quarantine for EAB as of March 30, 2018.
Forestry Staff have systematically inspected all ash terrace trees within the City of Madison. Following the EAB Plan, they have placed the yellow dots that signify a tree destined for removal on the ash trees that do not meet the EAB treatment criteria.
If you think the tree on your private property is infested with EAB, we suggest consulting a certified arborist. EAB is 100% fatal to an untreated ash tree. You will need to decide to treat or remove the tree. To assist in your decision, please review the homeowner's decision guide.
