Discussion Item:  Legistar 67816 Alder Districts 2022 - Amending Section 15.03 of the Madison General Ordinances to update existing Alder Districts.

Events, activities, seminars, etc.

• You are invited to a virtual town hall on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 6pm where local medical and public health professionals will provide an update about COVID-19 vaccination and testing in Dane County. Spanish interpretation will be available. This FREE event will be streamed via Zoom and is open to community members at large. Registration is required. Participants will have the opportunity to submit their questions in advance or ask questions during the presentation. Please see the flyer in English and Spanish.
  

   

• The Aldo Leopold Park Bike Pump Track will soon be finished! Capital Offroad Pathfinders and other bike lovers will celebrate completion of the track on Saturday, November 6, starting at 10am, at 2906 Traceway Drive. Come on out to try the new track! Everyone is welcome. All ages, and any bike will do.  Skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, anything with wheels.
  

   

Announcements, press releases, press conferences, etc.

• Starting at 2am on Tuesday, November 2, the southbound Interstate 39/90 ramp to westbound US 12/18 (Beltline) in Madison will be closed to all traffic until 5am on Wednesday, November 3. In addition, significant backups are expected along I-39/90 southbound, as the Interstate will be reduced to two lanes for 4 miles between the I-94 and Beltline interchanges. Drivers are urged to plan ahead and allow additional travel time through the area.

During the 27-hour ramp closure, motorists must use alternate routes via US 51/Stoughton Road to access US 12/18 (Beltline) – options are listed below. Drivers should anticipate delays on Stoughton Road due to the traffic diversion.

• Exit 132 north of Madison to travel south on US 51.
• Exit 135 A to US 151 south (East Washington Avenue) to US 51/Stoughton Road.
• Exit 138 B for WIS 30 to US 51/Stoughton Road.
• The signed detour route will follow I-39/90 southbound to the County N interchange (Exit 147) to turn around and travel north to the I-39/90 northbound ramp to westbound US 12/18.

You can register for weekly email construction updates on the I-39/90 Project website follow the project on Facebook. All work activities, lane and ramp closures are weather-dependent and subject to change. The backup dates would be Wednesday, November 3 or Thursday, November 4.

• The Streets Division has several updates:
  • The 2022 trash & recycling collection calendar is now available. Get yours today at www.cityofmadison.com/CollectionSchedule. Enter your address into the form. A new tab will open in your web browser. Scroll down to see next year's schedule.
  • Leaf and yard waste collection for the fall is underway. Learn when you should set out your leaves and yard waste so they are picked up by visiting www.cityofmadison.com/YardWaste
  • Drop-off site hours change seasonally, so be sure you know when the sites are open before loading your car. Learn the rules for the sites and the hours when they are open at www.cityofmadison.com/DropOffSites
  • Remember that large item collection is different. You need to submit a work order before you set the items out for pickup, and remember not to set the items out too early. Wait until the set-out date you chose or the day before the set-out date. Placing items out too early clutters the neighborhood.   • Winter is around the corner. Be sure to sign up for parking alerts, snowplow update emails, and learn about how to salt your sidewalks and driveways correctly at www.cityofmadison.com/Winter.
• Your input is valuable! Please consider responding to the Music and Tourism Survey. This survey aims to take a pulse on how people view our current music ecosystem and share ideas on how to improve it. The survey will take 5 minutes and if you share your contact information, you will be entered into a drawing for $50. Your name will only be entered once. Take the Survey!
• The South Madison Plan Final DRAFT will be introduced to the Common Council on November 2. If you are a resident of South Madison or work in the area, you are encouraged to review the Draft and follow the adoption process. The South Madison Plan will be referred to various legislative bodies and the exact schedule will be posted on the South Madison Plan website later in the week.

The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) would like to offer some important information concerning 2022 Open Enrollment content.  This year's Open Enrollment period is from November 1 through January 15.  During this limited time, all Wisconsinites are eligible to enroll in one of the health plans available on the federal marketplace. Those who already have insurance through the marketplace can also renew, change, or update their plans during this period. 

In 2020, the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) and Governor Tony Evers launched WisCovered.com?as an accessible resource for consumers. By visiting WisCovered.com or calling 2-1-1, people can get connected with free, expert help. The online services are available in English, Spanish, and Hmong. 2-1-1 operators are able to offer help in over 180 languages.  

If you need health insurance, there are great plans available that cover doctor visits, prescriptions, hospital stays, and more on the federal marketplace. Thousands of Wisconsinites have already gotten enrolled this year, with many consumers finding plans for $10 or less per month. ?Many Wisconsinites will benefit from even lower rates and more insurance options?in 2021. Rates on the individual market will be 0.3 percent lower in 2022 on average than rates in 2021. An interactive map of health insurers available by county can be found?here. 

Other stakeholders who would like to share information about Open Enrollment are encouraged to visit OCI's?open enrollment digital toolkit, which features draft social media posts and graphics, with many materials available in Spanish and Hmong as well as English.
