Transportation Commission Meeting Information: The Transportation Commission meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 7, at 5:00 p.m. in virtual format. See: Legistar# 91384 to view illustrations and public comments.
What’s Being Proposed?
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is studying multiple changes to the entire Beltline. The Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) process will determine which elements move forward for detailed design and environmental review. This is the critical stage for WisDOT to eliminate options that don’t meet project goals and refine those that do.
Proposed elements include:
- Added general-purpose lanes
- Extension of flex lanes
- Expansion of interchanges
- New overpass structures to reduce ramp weaving
- New road connections across and alongside the Beltline
- Improved pedestrian and bicycle connections
- Transit priority on roadways crossing the Beltline
- A new Park & Ride lot
