MadiSUN's Solar Group Purchase Program

A note from RENEW Wisconsin:

On behalf of the City of Madison, RENEW Wisconsin is happy to administer the MadiSUN Solar Energy Program. MadiSUN has helped thousands of residents learn more about solar energy and understand their solar production potential.

The MadiSUN solar group purchase program brings together households across the area and uses their collective buying power to get a great deal on rooftop solar at home. Our team of community members reviews competing offers from solar companies across the region and selects a trusted partner to install your system, saving you time and money.

MadiSUN staff vet multiple solar installation firms, saving time and taking the guesswork out of selecting a contractor. Through a competitive selection process, the MadiSUN solar contractor offers the best combinations of quality, service, materials, and pricing. For the 2023 MadiSUN Group Buy, Arch Solar is our selected solar installation firm.

Pedestrian and Bicyclist Safety

I've received several emails in the last week about traffic safety for pedestrians and bicyclists. Please be assured I am taking note of each of these and forwarding these concerns to Traffic Engineering staff, including the City's Ped-Bike Coordinator, Renee Callaway.

I have also shared the concerns with the Madison Police Department, recognizing the role enforcement plays in curtailing unsafe and illegal driving behavior, including excessive speed and the running of red lights. In the meantime, it's vitally important that pedestrians and bicyclists remain vigilant and hyper-aware of their own safety, never assuming cars will stop for them.

Here's a cautionary note from Midtown Police Captain Jason Freedman:

While I agree that we need to continue to work on changing the driving culture, regardless of who has the right of way, pedestrians (or bikers) always lose in conflicts with automobiles.  As such, I think encouraging pedestrians to look, look twice, and look again is ultimately in their best interest.

I will continue to forward your concerns about traffic safety. In the meantime, remember -- there are no arguments to be won with a moving automobile.

  • Bird & Nature Adventures | Turville Point, Sunday, August 13, 2023: Mushrooms & Fungi with Kacy Zander and Aaron Cutler ~ Join Myco Rising leaders Kacy Zander and Aaron Cutler for a guided tour to see if you can spot some of the hundreds of different species of mushrooms and fungi that grow along the trails. Look high and low, especially around decaying logs and on tree snags. Remember to stay on the trail and not pick things since this is a Conservation Park. Fungi come in an amazing variety of shapes and colors! The part you see is only a small part of the organism. These important components of the ecosystem help break down decaying organic matter and pollutants and provide important food for a wide variety of birds, insects and wildlife.
