Meeting Reminder, 2022 Neighborhood Grant Program & Highlights for the Week of December 6th

December 6, 2021 5:58 PM

Friends and neighbors,

This message serves as a reminder - tomorrow evening Dane County's Public Works & Transportation Committee will host a public informational meeting regarding the new landfill and sustainability campus that's being proposed in District 16.

When: Tuesday December 7, 2021 5:30pm

Where: Virtual; click HERE to register. Once registered, you will be emailed the meeting information

As a reminder, this proposal is a joint project of both the City of Madison and Dane County. There's a possibility City staff will create additional resources or presentations about this proposal. Should that occur, I will make sure to share the information via blog update and social media.

As of today I've been made aware of a FAQ page Dane County staff has compiled and will continue adding to. The easiest way to access this FAQ is to visit the following  document/page:

Another resource I want to make sure you are aware of is the City's 2022 Neighborhood Grant Program. This annual program is designed to help neighborhoods build capacity, beautify public places and improve the quality of life within neighborhoods, and the City as a whole. If you are interested in this opportunity, please send an email to and cc me to request a required pre-application meeting. As of today the program guidelines nor the application are available on the site but will be by mid-December. More information about the opportunity can be found at

  • Andi Cloud invites Madison residents to hunt for a hand-made medallion in City of Madison parks. The clear, acrylic medallion has the Great Seal of the Ho-Chunk Nation engraved and is hidden within a City of Madison public park. Clues will be published online starting Wednesday, December 1, 2021. A new clue will appear daily through Friday, December 10, 2021, unless the medallion is found before that date. The person who finds the medallion will get to keep it and will also win a $50 gift card! Learn more about how to participate.
  • In partnership with the Wisconsin Book Festival, author Patty Loew will appear live on Crowdcast on December 9 at 7pm to discuss her book, Seventh Generation Earth Ethics, and the increasing pressures to turn Indigenous lands into "sacrifice zones"--geographic areas that are permanently affected by environmental damage.
  • Two Madison Public Library locations are offering FREE tech repair for tablets, laptops, and phones! Drop-in programs hosted at Lakeview and Meadowridge Libraries. Learn more here.

The Madison Police Department is the first agency in the state of Wisconsin to use this type of technology. Learn more here.
