Setting the Record Straight: A Week in the Life of Your Dedicated Alder

Regarding recent public conversations about Alder pay. Alders received emails that amounted to referring to Alders as being lazy, living high off of taxpayer dollars, and not doing any work. We also received emails to thank us for our service and supported a small raise in pay.
There are weeks that I may work 30+ hours and other weeks that stay closer to 21 hours. To date, there hasn't been a week that looks exactly like the previous week.
I've shared previously that I founded an organization and that's my full-time job. One that I routinely put in at least 50 hours a week for. It's important to know that there are those of us on the Common Council who have to work full-time jobs to pay our bills and take care of ourselves.
Alders are expected to spend at least 20.81 hrs weekly working on Alder-related tasks. Just because I hit that 20.81 sometimes by midweek, I don't just stop serving as Alder. Should I just stop actively serving as Alder for the week once I hit that 20.81hrs?
No matter how many hours we spend weekly as Alder our pay remains the same: $12,692 annually or 11.73hr
Going forward I plan to share my weekly summary so that you can come to your conclusions based on facts versus hearsay -- at least for what my week looks like as Alder for District 17.
Please note that Alders are not required to track their hours. I simply found an app that works well for me to show the public what my week is like.
