Hello,

Over the past weekend, several property crimes were reported in the Greater Sandburg neighborhood.  MPD has confirmed that multiple vehicles, primarily Kia and Hyundai models, were targeted, with at least one stolen Hyundai. Surveillance footage shows multiple suspects in the area, though no arrests have been made at this time.

Prevention Tips for Property Crimes

You can help prevent property crimes by utilizing the following tips:

  • Lock it: ensure your car doors and all doors to your residence are kept locked
  • Light it: leave exterior residence lights on at night or utilize motion detecting lights
  • Hide it: keep valuables in your garage, car, and home out of sight
  • Remove it: removing valuables from your car is better then hiding them. This includes garage door openers and spare keys
  • Close it: keep your garage door closed and double-check it is closed at night
  • Report it: report all criminal and suspicious activity immediately

Non-emergency dispatch can be reached at 608-255-2345

MPD will be increasing patrols in the neighborhood to address this pattern of crimes.
