Article from Madison365 on the proposed harm reduction center request for proposals

Good morning, 

I learned recently that CAYA Clinic provided a letter to the Board of Health (BoH) where they encouraged the BoH to "reissue the Harm Reduction Drop In RFP". 

When asked to respond to this update by Madison365, I shared the following statement this morning: 

"CAYA’s letter is an important step, and I encourage the Board of Health to accept it while also calling for an improved RFP process. This is an opportunity to allow Public Health Madison & Dane County to lead with a clear public health lens, and I would welcome the opportunity to collaborate with the County alongside my Common Council colleagues and City agencies."

The next Board of Health meeting where a vote was expected is on February 4, 2025.  I have not yet gotten any updates from the BoH nor Public Health Madison & Dane County about the letter, how CAYA's letter may or may not shift the process, and what next steps may look like.
