City Budget Engagement Sessions Begin Tuesday, June 2nd

On Tuesday, June 2, the City of Madison is hosting its first Budget Engagement Session. These sessions are an opportunity to learn more about the City Budget process and provide feedback to policymakers on priorities for Madison's future.  

The first session will focus on Justice & Public Safety and feature staff and information from the Attorney's Office, Department of Civil Rights, Fire, Municipal Court, Office of Independent Police Monitor, Police, and Public Health. 

The open house portion of the meeting will be followed by a budget presentation from Finance Director Dave Schmiedicke and a Q&A with Alders.

Public Information Meeting: Data Center Moratorium

The City of Madison is holding a virtual public information meeting on its data center moratorium at 5:30pm on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. 

This meeting is being held to provide an update on the authority and tools the City has to regulate data centers, the research being done by City staff, the potential impacts of data centers the City is considering in its analysis, and a timeline for a draft policy proposal. City officials will take questions and seek input from the public after an informational presentation. 


Volunteer at Sandburg Woods

On Saturday June 13th, volunteer with residents in the Sandburg Neighborhood They are looking for volunteers to help plant native plugs around the Sandburg Woods! Erin McCune from the city's parks division has acquired over 500 native plugs which will hopefully keep trees from growing up along the edge of the woods and knocking out power in the neighborhood every summer." Help neighbors get them in the ground! See flyer below for more info.

Parks Alive | Sandburg Park

Parks Alive is back this year with more of what you love! Visit your local park and share in fun, family friendly activities while building connections with neighbors and creating memories with friends. As always, there will be free food, music and the occasional movie. Come out, get active and enjoy your local green space this summer.

Sina Davis Movies in the Park

The City of Madison Parks Division launched Movies with Madison Parks in harmony with the City's Neighborhood Resource Teams (NRTs). Sina Davis, from the Allied Drive Neighborhood, provided the spark and served as the catalyst and key advocate of the program's development. In July 2019, just before her passing, the Movies in the Park program was named in her honor
