Some quick updates Christmas Eve and Christmas day services below. City offices are closed on both December 24 & 25. Happy Holidays!

Trash & Recycling Collection Will Happen on Christmas Eve

Operating hours will be shortened

The Streets Division will be performing trash and recycling collection on Thursday, December 24, 2020. The drop-off sites will be opened for shortened hours.

Curbside Collection Information
If you have a regularly occurring Thursday collection of trash and recycling by the Streets Division, you must have your carts out to the curb by 6:30am on for pickup on this day.

If you set your carts out late, you may miss your curbside pickup opportunity.

Some neighborhoods may see collection vehicles earlier than usual. The Streets Division aims to have curbside collections completed by 11:00am.

Drop-off Sites Information
The Streets Division drop-off sites will be open from 7:30am until 11:00am on Christmas Eve.

The drop-off sites will reopen on Monday, December 28, 2020 following the Christmas holiday.

No Curbside Trash & Recycling Pickup on Christmas Day

Drop-off Sites Also Closed

The Streets Division will not perform refuse, recycling, or large item collection on Friday, December 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday. The drop-off sites will also be closed.

Curbside Collection Information
If you normally have your refuse and recycling collected on Fridays, you must place your cart(s) to the curb for collection by 6:30am on Monday, December 28, 2020.

If you normally have your refuse and recycling collected on Monday, you should place your cart(s) to the curb for collection by 6:30am on Monday, December 28, 2020 as well.

Be sure to set your carts out for pickup on time. Carts set out late may not be collected.

Other collection services, such as large item pickup, may be temporarily delayed during the week of December 28 as Streets Division crews work to make up for the holiday.

Drop-off Sites Information
The drop-off sites will be closed on Christmas Day. They will reopen on winter hours at 7:30am on Monday, December 28, 2020.

The sites are located at 1501 W. Badger Rd. and 4602 Sycamore Ave.

The drop-off sites are currently on winter hours. They are open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:30am to 2:30pm.

East side residents, which are residents east of S. Park Street, including the isthmus, should call 608-246-4532. West side residents, which are residents west of S. Metro Transit Service Decreases December 24-25

Metro Transit service will be decreased over the Christmas holiday.

Thursday, December 24
Weekday Schedules - Service Ends at 6 p.m.

  • Metro Transit follows WEEKDAY schedules on Christmas Eve.
  • Service ends at approximately 6 p.m.

Paratransit Service
All standing paratransit rides will be canceled after 6:00 p.m. Call (608) 266-4466 to adjust your travel for this day.
