May Office Hours, Oakwood Development Meeting, BRT Meeting, 2021 Recyclopedia and Spring Yard Waste Collection

I will be hosting office hours in twice in May virtually. I will be using Zoom (with video).

Please use the registration links below to get the Zoom link. When you register, you'll also get an e-mail reminder on the day of Office Hours. You can register in advance or the day of.

Note: I have set it up so I can only meet one person at a time. If I'm meeting with someone else, there will be a small waiting period in a meeting lobby. If you don't want to use Zoom, I will be answering calls (608-912-0000) during this time as long as I'm not speaking with someone else.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 19, 2021 - 7:00 PM

Please join Alder Martin and I for a virtual neighborhood meeting where we will hear about Oakwood Village’s proposal for a new 60 bed skilled nursing facility. Demolition of Hebron Oaks, located at 6201 Mineral Point Road, will be done at a future time after the new skilled nursing facility is operational.

Join city staff to learn more about the City of Madison plan to implement Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). At the spring public meeting, staff will present updates on east and west terminals, station configurations at select intersections, and the status of the station design competition.

The 2021 Recyclopedia is now available. Inside the booklet, you can find updates to what you can & can’t recycle as well as other useful waste disposal information, and details about Streets Division services. You can learn everything from how you can find out when to set out yard waste for pickup to information about the City's large item collection to details about urban forestry & snow plowing services.

Booklets are available as a PDF on the Streets website.  Paper copies can be mailed out by requesting one from Street's or picked up in person at Street's office locations. Limited paper copies area available at the north and east Willy Street Co-ops and both Metcalfe’s grocery locations. 

Streets Division collection crews completed the spring yard waste collection rounds.

Residents should not place yard waste to the curb at this time.

What should you do with yard waste now that curbside pickup is over?
Rather than placing yard waste to the curb, residents should bring the material to one of the Streets Division drop-off sites. Residents may also want to try composting or mulching grass clippings into their lawn.

Drop-off Site Information
The drop-off sites for yard waste are located at 1501 W. Badger Rd, 4602 Sycamore Ave, and 402 South Point Rd.

The current drop-off sites hour are as follows:

• Monday: 7:30am to 2:45pm
• Tuesday: 7:30am to 7:00pm
• Wednesday: Closed
• Thursday: 7:30am to 7:00pm
• Friday: 7:30am to 2:45pm
• Saturday: 9:00am to 4:00pm

The above hours will be in effect until December 4, 2021.

When you come to the drop-off sites, be prepared to encounter lines to entry, particularly during peak usage times (which tend to be Saturday and Monday).

The number of individuals allowed into the dumping area remains limited to help with the overall safety of the sites.

When will curbside yard waste collection start again?
The start of the fall curbside yard waste collection period is weather dependent and will be announced when that date is known.
