MEETINGS

  • Finance Committee: The Finance Committee meeting will take place on Monday, June 26, 2023 in virtual format at 4:30 PM. Agenda items include the approval of funds for Tax Incremental Finance Loans, authorizing the Mayor and the Chief of Police to accept a Justice Assistance Grant Record Management System Improvement grant award for victim notification software, and more!
  • Sustainable Madison: The Sustainable Madison Committee meeting will take place on Monday, June 26, 2023 in virtual format at 4:30 PM. Agenda items include reviewing a draft memo to the Common Council on the Farmland Preservation Task Force Report, reviewing a draft memo on encouraging youth participation in City Boards, Committees, and Commissions, as well as an update on the Sustainability Plan, and more!
  • The Plan Commission meeting will take place on Monday, June 26, 2023 in virtual format at 5:30 PM. Agenda items include electing commission officers, tax incremental district (TID)-related actions, development-related proposals downtown and on the west side, and a proposed resolution to update the City’s Land Subdivision Regulations.

· Listening Session: Elver Park, Wednesday, June 28, 2023: Madison Parks is proposing a number of improvements to Elver Park in the coming years. These improvements represent relatively minor projects that will take place before a larger master planning process begins in 2024. The master plan process will address larger changes to the park and provide opportunities to provide feedback and comments for Elver Park's long-term uses, vision, and layout.

  • Monday Mornings at The Glen, Monday, June 26, 2023: Explore the beauty of The Glen Golf Park every Monday morning this summer, from sunrise until 8:00 am. Enjoy a stroll, get in your morning workout, walk your leashed dog or just take in The Glen scenery every Monday, June 28 through Monday, August 28. Visitors will likely see golf equipment running, but our team is pleased to welcome you and no tee times are scheduled. Please keep out of prairie areas.
  • Food Cart Pop-up, Monday, June 26, 2023: Pop over to your neighborhood park for a Food Cart Pop-up! Scheduled at various times and in parks across the city, food carts and trucks, offering desserts, coffee, dinner and more, add to the fun of your favorite City of Madison parks. Join Travelin Toms Coffee of Madison at James Madison Park!
  • Parks Alive | Allied Park | Movie: Wakanda Forever, Monday, June 26, 2023: Parks Alive builds stronger neighborhoods and connects neighbors to their parks through fun, family-friendly activities, music and free food. Events are held in parks across the city and throughout the summer. Connect with your neighbors and engage with your community at a Parks Alive event near you! Allied Park: June 26, July 10, July 24, August 7.
  • NewBridge Summer Concert Series, Monday, June 26, 2023: The Summer Concert Series was started by one of the four senior coalitions that merged to become NewBridge Madison. In 1993, the North/Eastside Senior Coalition (NESCO) initiated the Summer Concert Series at Warner Park in order to bring people together and provide older adults in the area with free, high-quality summer entertainment. The trial run was a success.
  • Lakeside Kids: Danztrad, Traditional Mexican Dance, Tuesday, June 27, 2023: DanzTrad “Traditional Mexican Dance” is a Madison dance group created with the idea of a workshop for everybody interested in the Mexican folkloric dance. DanzTrad intends to present, represent and promote Mexican culture and art through dance to younger generations. The dances represent some of the traditions in Mexico from Aztecs before the Spanish conquistadors to Jalisco from the revolution time.
  • Food Cart Pop-up, Tuesday, June 27, 2023: Pop over to your neighborhood park for a Food Cart Pop-up!   • East Side Farmers' Market, Tuesday, June 27, 2023: The Eastside Farmers' Market is Madison Wisconsin’s finest weekday farmers' market. Our goal is to bring the freshest Wisconsin grown food direct to the heart of the East side. Our vendor members are agricultural producers and food artisans who make value added products from Wisconsin's agricultural bounty.
  • Parks Alive | Worthington Park, Tuesday, June 27, 2023: Parks Alive builds stronger neighborhoods and connects neighbors to their parks through fun, family-friendly activities, music and free food.   • Dane County Farmers' Market - Wednesday Market, Wednesday, June 28, 2023: The Wednesday Dane County Farmers’ Market is located on the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, in between the Madison Municipal Building and the City County Building. While more intimate than the Saturday Market, you will still find many of your favorite Dane County Farmers’ Market members, as well as a full array of fruits and vegetables, eggs, cheeses, honey, maple syrup, bakery items, cut flowers, plants, and many specialty items.
  • The Capitol View Farmers’ Market, Wednesday, June 28, 2023: The Capitol View Farmers Market is returning to the North Star Neighborhood! Join us each Wednesday (May 31-October 11, 2023) from 3:00-7:00pm to support local farmers and vendors, enjoy live music and food carts, and make the most of summer in Madison!
  • West Side Community Market – Saturday, June 17, 2023: The market is located at 505 S. Rosa Rd. in Research Park and is open every Saturday from 7:30 am – 12:30 pm through November 4, 2023. Food Share is accepted, free parking, and accessible by bus.
  • Hilldale Farmers’ Market, Wednesday, June 14 and Saturday, June 17, 2023:  The market is located behind LL Bean, off Segoe Rd, and is open from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm.

  • Capitol City Band Concerts in the Park, Thursday, June 29, 2023: Old fashioned band concerts in the park, "as American as apple pie."   • Live at The Glen: DJ Pain 1 Hip Hop Dance Party, Friday, June 30, 2023: It's a dance party at The Glen! Staring around 7:00 pm, come move to the music of beat-master DJ Pain 1, a Madison-born Multi Platinum producer and world-touring DJ. DJ Pain 1 has produced for artists such as 50 Cent, Schoolboy Q, Ludacris, Lil Baby, Public Enemy, and Nipsey Hussle, and has been featured at numerous Dane Dance events. DJ Pain 1 will share his artistic talent to create a free Hip Hop dance party on the patio at The Glen Golf Park.

  • Abortion Rights Overturned: One Year Later: Public Health Madison & Dane County has expanded its free sexual and reproductive health services to meet the changing needs of the community.
  • Overnight Closures--John Nolen/Blair/Wilson/Williamson Intersection: The intersection of S Blair St, E Wilson St, Williamson St, & John Nolen Dr will have overnight lane closures for three consecutive nights, starting Wednesday night (6/21) and continuing through Saturday morning (6/24).
  • A reminder to lock your vehicles! There have been instances of theft from auto vehicles all over the west districts. Whether or not your vehicle is inside of a garage or outside on the street or in a parking lot, keep your vehicles locked and consider a wheel lock device if you own a Hyundai or a Kia. A few locks are available at the West District Police Station if you stop in and ask.
  • University Ave. Construction Update: Traffic will remain in the current traffic configuration throughout the majority of the project limits; however, an eastbound and westbound lane shift as well as left turn lane closures in both directions will be required at the intersection of University Ave. and Shorewood Blvd. This traffic change is scheduled to begin on June 28, 2023, and is anticipated to last until approximately July 17, 2023.
