The Board of Park Commissioners will take place on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 in in-person format at 6:30 PM. Urban Forestry Reminds Residents to Water Newly Planted Trees

Despite today’s light rain, this has been a dry spring and early summer season. Your new trees need help! If a tree has been planted on the terrace in front of your home by Urban Forestry within the last five years, or if you had a tree planted on your private property in that same window of time, residents are reminded to water the tree as needed to increase its chance of survival.

Sign Up for Emergency RAVE Alerts from Dane County

I attended a discussion of the County’s RAVE alert system at the East District Coffee with a Cop on May 30th. You can sign up to receive emergency notification by text, Email or both. Signing up will enable county and local safety officials to alert you about public safety emergencies in your community such as active shooter alerts, gas leaks, or evacuation/shelter-in-place orders. Sign up using the link on the County’s RAVE webpage. You can contact Dane County Emergency Management (emergencymanagement@countyofdane.com) if you have questions.

WisDOT Writing an Active Transportation Plan

Attention bicyclers and pedestrians! Over the course of the next year, WisDOT will create its first Active Transportation Plan (ATP), which will combine and update the WisDOT Pedestrian and Bicycle Plans. The ATP will outline statewide policies, practices, recommendations, and resources to guide local communities' active transportation efforts. Their project webpage includes a link to a survey where you can weigh in on your bike/pedestrian transportation uses and needs. That page also includes more information about the project’s upcoming public involvement plans.
