Overnight John Nolen Drive Closures This Week
postedBeginning Monday night, October 27, the northbound lanes of John Nolen Drive will be closed overnight between Olin Avenue and North Shore Drive to accommodate storm sewer installation work.
The nightly closures will occur from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for four consecutive nights—Monday night, October 27, through Thursday night, October 30—with the roadway reopening by Friday morning, October 31.
Crews will be installing four storm sewer crossings along the northbound side of the John Nolen Drive causeway.
During these overnight hours, northbound motorists will be detoured via Olin Avenue to Park Street. Southbound John Nolen Drive will remain open throughout the project.
The Capital City Trail will remain open, with brief, localized detours around the active work zone.
Metro Transit routes will not be affected by these closures.
There will be additional nighttime work the following week on John Nolen Drive between North Shore Drive and Monona Terrace between 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for four consecutive nights–Monday night, November 3 through Thursday night, November 6. During these overnight hours, northbound and southbound John Nolen Drive traffic will be maintained with lane shifts around active work zones as needed. The Capital City Trail will remain open, with brief, localized detours around the active work zones.
There will be additional periods of nighttime work outside the typically permitted working hours throughout the project, the majority of which will be on the John Nolen Drive causeway.
