North Shore Drive Closure

posted

South Broom Street at John Nolen Drive is scheduled to reopen by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2. Following the reopening, North Shore Drive will close beginning at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3.

These closures are part of the next phase of the John Nolen Drive reconstruction project. North Shore Drive is expected to remain closed through mid-July while crews reconstruct the intersection.

  • Bike and pedestrian traffic will be routed onto the new Brittingham Park path between South Bedford Street and South Broom Street.
  • The Capital City Trail and the new North Shore Drive path will remain open throughout construction.

In addition, the John Nolen Drive causeway will be closed overnight from 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, until 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, to allow crews to complete a concrete bridge deck pour.

  • The Capital City Trail along the causeway will remain open during this overnight closure.
North Shore Drive Closure Map

The North Shore Drive closure requires a detour of the shared-use path along North Shore Drive. The path will close at South Bedford Street, and path users will be detoured to the new path on the other side of the street through Brittingham Park. The new path connects to South Bassett Street and South Broom Street where users can join the Capital City Trail or head north to the Wilson Street cycletrack. This will become the primary access for the Capital City Trail. Bike and pedestrian traffic will be directed to use the new park path. The John Nolen Drive crosswalk at North Shore Drive will be removed from service until the completion of the project.
