The City held a public meeting on the Comp Plan Interim Update on Thursday July 13th. I am hoping residents are paying attention and thinking about the future land uses for the city and our district. The proposed map changes are here:

At the Finance Committee meeting of Monday July 17, there are items related to the First Settlement neighborhood.

5. 78312 Approving the Project Plan and Boundary and use of the Half Mile Rule for Tax Incremental District (TID) #53 (East Wilson), City of Madison.

10. 78675 Declaring the Crowley Station Well and Reservoir Surface at 201 S. Hancock Street to be a City Park, and Authorizing the Parks Division to Improve, Program and Maintain as a Public Park (District 4)

11. 78692 Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into a Donation Agreement and a Developer’s Agreement with the Madison Parks Foundation for the Privately Funded Improvement of the Crowley Station Well and Reservoir Surface at 201 S. Hancock Street (District 4).
 


The Madison Arts Commission meeting of Tuesday July 18 is packed with interesting projects and reports including the 2022 Percent for Art Annual report and the 2023 Atwood Ave Percent for Art sidewalk poetry project to be completed with construction. On October 3, 2017, the Common Council approved an ordinance (Legistar File # 47273) creating the City’s Percent for Art program, which requires that 1% of the total budget for certain City public works projects exceeding $5 million be set aside for public art, beginning with the 2019 capital budget. The first project included art at the Metro bus barn on E Wash.
 


At the Board of Public Works meeting of Wednesday July 19 is a plan to go out to bid for the long awaited treatment of PFAS in Well 15.

8. 78780 Approving plans and specifications and authorizing the Board of Public Works to advertise and receive bids for Well 15 PFAS Treatment Facility (District 12). Sponsors: BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS The proposed project will address PFAS levels in Well 15 source water by installing new treatment process equipment (pre-treatment and VOC & PFAS removal as well as chemical feed), piping and valves, controls system changes and site modifications within the existing building footprint of the Unit Well 15 facility. The total estimated cost of the project is $5,000,000.
 


If you are interested in learning more about Tax Increment Financing, the Economic Development Committee meeting of July 19 will get presentations and information about small cap TIF programs, land banking, and the three new TID districts including TID 53, which includes E Wilson and parts of District 6.
