Week of June 15, 2026

posted

District Niners,

  • The Juneteenth flag will be raised at the state capital on Saturday, June 20th between 12:00 PM-12:40 PM at the East Main St. side of the capital.  And, on Friday, the official holiday, city, state and federal offices (except emergency services) will be closed.
  • Recent stormy weather presented many neighborhoods with up-rooted trees, fallen treen limbs and other assorted debris.  Streets Division is very much aware and will be making their regularly scheduled brush collection in addition to storm debris.  Your patience is requested. Move debris to the terrace and away from the street.
  • The next budget session at Vel Phillips Memorial High School has been rescheduled for July, 16th.  Updates to follow closer to the scheduled date.

Your well-being

Yes, it's stressful out there.  Just remember that a good old fashioned gut-bucket laugh until you cry can boost your mood and is good for your mental health; that it takes more facial muscles to frown than it does to smile.  So, go ahead and activate your smile and remember, once you are over the hill, you pick up speed.

Until next time,

Joann
