Celebrate Safely this Holiday Weekend
For Immediate Release
July 2, 2025
While gathering with friends, family and neighbors this Independence Day weekend, residents are encouraged to use Madison's fabulous network of parks and greenspaces. There are playgrounds, hiking trails, bike paths and other recreational amenities to enjoy, including Olbrich Botanical Gardens, Goodman Pool and the splash parks at Cypress, Reindahl and Elver parks.
The City of Madison reminds residents that any type of ignitable firework, including sparklers, are not allowed in City parks. Alcohol is allowed in most parks, but not all. It’s a good idea to check ahead of time. The Madison Police Department’s Community Policing will be on duty this holiday weekend to ensure everyone is able to enjoy Madison’s parks safely.
There are several fireworks shows planned in neighboring communities on July 4th. The Madison Fire Department encourages you to enjoy these shows and leave the fireworks to the professionals. The only products that are legal in Madison are the “Fab 4 of July 4”: Sparklers, snaps, caps, and snakes. Anything that shoots into the air is not allowed.
The safety of our community is all of our responsibility. The City of Madison hopes every resident and visitor is able to celebrate and enjoy the holiday weekend safely. Happy Fourth!
