Go Vote 🗳️ + Building a More Sustainable City
postedHello Madison,
The Common Council was recently updated on the City of Madison's Sustainability Plan and the progress that's been made since its implementation in August 2024. Alders heard presentations on the City's Zero Waste and Air Quality Monitoring projects. The Council also discussed the ongoing efforts to make the City's fleet and facilities more resilient and energy efficient.
Message from the Mayor
Now is the time to make your voter plan (if you haven't already) for the Spring Election on Tuesday, April 7. There are important city, county, and state races on the ballot and your participation is necessary to ensure the health of our democracy.
Absentee voting
If you wish to vote absentee and haven't requested a ballot yet, you should do so immediately. The City has mailed out more than 20,000 absentee ballots and around half have been returned to the Clerk's Office. Make sure to follow the ballot instructions closely and return your ballot as soon as possible.
Delays in the mail system happen and in order for your vote to count, it needs to be delivered to the Clerk's Office before 8 p.m. on Election Day. With less than a week to go, the Clerk's Office recommends using one of the City's 14 secure ballot drop boxes or returning your completed absentee ballot at one of the many in-person absentee voting locations. The drop boxes are checked daily by Clerk staff and this is a safe and speedy alternative to traditional mail. However you return your absentee ballot, you should track its progress using the My Vote Wisconsin website.
In-Person Absentee Voting
Another convenient way to make your voice heard is by voting this week at an in-person absentee voting site. There is likely a location close to your home, including at all our neighborhood libraries. This is how I intend to vote this election cycle and it usually takes just a few minutes.
Election Day
And, of course, you can vote on Election Day at your local polling place. Remember to bring a photo ID and if you need to register to vote, you can do so if you bring a proof of residency document. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The County Clerk's Office will start posting unofficial results shortly after the polls close.
No matter how you vote, please do so! There are resources available if you have any questions.
Go vote!
— Mayor Satya
