The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on February 12 to 6:00am on February 13, we received 504 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 83
  • East: 94
  • Midtown: 87
  • North: 92
  • South: 53
  • West: 77
  • Other: 18

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Thursday, February 12:

Priority calls only from 5:02pm to 7:05pm due to calls for service.

  • 8:56am - South – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence where a 74-year-old man was found deceased. Nothing suspicious on scene.
  • 1:37pm - East – Disturbance:  Officers responded to Woodman's where a 68-year-old male suspect was consuming alcohol, yelling racial slurs, and threatened to shoot a security guard. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, trespass, and threats to law enforcement.
  • 4:49pm - Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence where the 16-year-old male suspect punched a hole in the wall. The suspect screamed at officers who arrived on scene to investigate. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
  • 5:46pm - East – Disturbance: Officers responded to the men's shelter where the 28-year-old male suspect punched a staff member. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
  • 9:29pm - Midtown – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence where a 66-year-old man died in the back of an ambulance just before being transported by MFD paramedics due to a medical event. Officers discovered that the conditions in the home were deplorable and the decedent had not been properly cared for. Investigation continuing.
  • 9:54pm - West – Traffic Arrest: An officer noticed a car loitering in a gas station parking lot. The officer conducted a traffic stop upon learning that the registered owner did not have a valid DL. The 30-year-old male driver/suspect provided several false names. Officers determined there was a warrant for the suspect's arrest. The suspect was arrested and newly charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, felon in possession of a firearm and obstructing.

Friday, February 13:

Priority calls only from 1:27am to 6:09am.

  • 12:02am - Central – OMVWI: A pedestrian at the intersection of W Gilman St and N Carroll St observed the suspect vehicle turn onto N Carroll St at a high rate of speed and nearly strike the pedestrian in the crosswalk. The vehicle then struck two parked cars and rolled over. The 21-year-old male driver/suspect was arrested for OWI 1st, operating without a valid DL, and reckless driving causing bodily harm.
